Family Outings with my Special Ones

I love that a New Year Brings New Memories, New Experiences. New Everything! The First Official Weekend of the NY! 2019

2019, You Have Been Pretty Great So Far. Looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us!

Special Birthday Celebrations…

Today we celebrated my Dad’s 64th Birthday and we enjoyed some yummy Black Forest birthday cake from the Cheesecake Shop (the Wavell Heights shop in Brissy is fab for anyone who wants a delicious cake!).

We played pass the parcel with the kids which was super fun, we listening to music, we played in the backyard, we have some candid family photos and we had yummy cups of tea. Today was a lovely day. One for the memory bank as they say. Five days in to the New Year and I’m really hoping that the year continues to be amazing. Of course, everyday won’t be perfect, but finding happiness in both the good and bad days is what is important. I am so thankful to have my Dad here to celebrate his special birthday. My late Grandad Norman sadly passed away the year before I was born, so unfortunately, I never got to meet him. My 92 year old Nan has been on her own since, but she is always surrounded by family and friends who love her dearly. I really wish so much that she wasn’t so far away. I know she would have loved to celebrate with us today. I hope that this year I can get over to the UK. If luck is on our side, we can save our pennies as they say and get on to that trip. I’m sure the boys would love to head over there too. To visit Brent’s late Dad’s side of the family too. Very special that we both have family in the UK. Our boys will be so blessed to meet all of the family one day. All in good time. A trip two years ago had to be cancelled, but now Oscar can come too!

Happy Birthday to my wonderful Dad. Dad, aka, “Poppy”, you truly are, “One in a million”. We love you so very much. With all of our hearts and more. xo #64today

The Rest of Today!

I love how we near so close to the city and also to the beach. It really is so very handy and convenient. Today the tide was out and we got to enjoy the beautiful surrounds of Nudgee Beach.

It was so much fun to just relax and unwind. Brent had Oscar Bear in the baby carrier. (Love Ego Baby! Has been our saviour with both of the boys!) We took down two balls to play with, (a soccer ball and basket ball) and we just laughed, played and chillaxed. We looked at little crab holes and the crabs scrambling/scurrying in and out, we played at the park, we admired the beautiful trees, the fresh breeze against our skin, (maybe not so much the mozzies later in the afternoon, lol), and we topped off the day with just making the local and infamous fish and chip shop which have lovely down-to-earth customer service. We ordered ice-creams and we headed home to have some downtime, to chillax and unwind. The perfect way to spend hubbies last few days of the holidays.

And Yesterday… We had the best time at Dreamworld Altogether

*Photos from DreamWorld. We were lucky enough to receive our digital prints being VIP pass holders and we also always get the paid print outs which are at a discounted price too. Love being VIP card holders!

Other Plans for the rest of the Holidays!

Stay tuned for our trip to get our fossicking stones valued! We also hope to head in to the city to explore the beautiful Botanical Gardens again. Can’t wait! I also am looking forward to taking the family to Australia Zoo, showing the boys were Mummy used to work when I was Deputy Editor of Australia Zoo Crikey! Magazine many moons ago! Geez, how life flies by. I really couldn’t have imagined where I journey has taken us all.

New Year, New You – What’s Your New Year’s Resolution?

A New Year is upon us already. It is 2019. Can you believe it? I remember 2009 like it was yesterday. I played match-maker for a now married couple, (I have match made a few couples in my time) toots to me! Lol.

This year, for some reason, it feels different. Different in a good way though. I feel that this year, things will just fall in to place. I really truly hope that they do. I want nothing more than this year to make sense. To be exactly how it’s meant to be. For myself and my family to be on the right path. A friend of mine said to me today, if you see 1:11 and 11:11, then you are on the right path to your destiny and meaning to life. Well, I can safely say that I have been seeing this now more than ever. Perhaps with it being NY, you are more prone to noticing it all, but I have faith. Faith that 2019 will be my best yet by far. And why is that? Because I’m going to own it. I’m going to think positive thoughts, be a positive person all around and not let negativity or negative takers get me down. I only have time for givers this year. I hope that doesn’t sound too harsh, but life is too short not to demand what you deserve. People talk all about self-love these days and I agree, it’s so very true. You have to love yourself before you can love others. That goes for family, your kids, your hubby/partner and friends.  I know when we had our losses before our two boys, I lost my way, I fell out of love with myself. I thought that my body had failed me, and in a way, it had. But since that devastating time, I have birthed two gorgeous boys, been with my husband for 12 years this year and will have been married for 7. I am doing my very best. Each and every single day. Can I still do more? Of course I can. But at my own pace and in my own time. My mantra for 2019? She believed that she could, and “She Did”. This year I have hope for so many dreams and aspirations. Not just for me, but for our families and our close friends too. I hope that we all get what we wish for. I guess that time will tell. Fingers crossed and toes of course. Wishing you all a beautiful rest of your festive season on holidays and a very happy and prosperous NY ahead.

Have you set some New Year goals for yourself and your family? I’m excited to sit down with my husband this week and work through our goals, both individually, and also as a couple. I hope that we smash them out of the park this year! The year we properly made our goals for the year, seriously was the best year ever. Setting goals and achievable goals, really does hold you accountable for making sure that you set aside time to make them happen. For the years really do travel by so very fast. It’s crazy how fast they roll by. Every year, we get older, and wiser (we hope so anyway ;-), every year, it’s human to have thoughts and wishes. I wish you all the best in making your dreams a reality for 2019! Good luck and I can’t wait to watch you on your journey whilst we connect through my blog.

Love and hugs, Rachael. xxoo

Our Trip to the Farm – So Special for our Family – A Christmas that will be Hard to Beat!

Ending 2018 with An Awesome Family Holiday to the Farm in Rural NSW

We have just recently returned home after a fabulous trip to the farm with my family. It was a lovely trip and one which will always hold special memories for my family and I. Despite getting sick with a nasty sinus infection a few days in, I didn’t let that put a dampener on our holiday.

Some of the trip highlights include – visiting the lamb lambs, choosing our Xmas Tree together, visiting two beautiful wineries and having a special tour, as well as popping in to the local pub for a drink and special family dinner on our last night.

Ariah Park is known as a 1920’s historical village and it really did live up to its wonderful expectations of being such a gorgeous quaint town. I absolutely loved it. The buildings and the people where all beautiful. It was so very magical on Xmas Eve when I walked past one of the shops and you could hear the Xmas music on in-store. Not sure whether it was a musical snow globe or jewellery box that had been left on, but it really was so magical to experience. There weren’t too many locals out and about as it was Xmas time of course, but the ones who we met were so kind and welcoming. I can easily see why my sister loves her new home. The local Ariah Park State School is also another lovely school and is home to 140 kids for their learning. The local police station was decked out in gorgeous festive Christmas lights, and my Brother-in-Law’s and Sister’s farm was also beautifully decorated with stunning Christmas lights. From the moment we found the property coming in off the highway, I knew we were in for a memorable Christmas. Christmas really is about being with the people who you love the most. For us, now we have our beautiful two boys, it really is about creating memories with them. Each year as they get older and understand more the magic of Christmas, it becomes even more special. The boys were treated to gifts from Santa, finding us on the farm,  as well as lovely gifts from the family.

I already miss the farm and my family. It’s been an eventful few days for Ariah Park and surrounding towns as a big and rare weather event, dust-storm travelled through the town and the farms. Mum, Dad, and my sis and her hubby had gone away for two nights for the New Year, so they missed it, but my Brother-in-Law’s Dad captured it all on camera and sent us some photos!

I hope that you are all having a safe start to the New Year and are looking forward to the year ahead. I know how much I am. I can’t wait to see what the New Year brings. 2019, I have a feeling that you are going to be pretty spesh!

My favourite photo of Xmas, our gorgeous little Oscar Bear enjoying his first proper Christmas Dinner at Auntie Bec and Uncle Jock’s place, on the beautiful farm.
